Brain Tumor Initiative Update
As of 2026, we are thrilled to share the update that internationally recognized neuro-oncologist Dr. Yazmin Odia now serves as the Kelsey Bradley Favrot Endowed Chair.
Dr. Odia is a physician-scientist who has led more than 30 clinical trials, authored more than 80 scientific publications, and built a nationally respected Neuro-Oncology Program at Miami Cancer Institute before joining the LSU LCMC Health Cancer Center in 2026. As Director of Neuro-Oncology, she is expanding access to cutting-edge brain tumor care, innovative clinical trials, and life-changing treatment options for patients throughout Louisiana.
Your support is also helping LSU LCMC Health Cancer Center move toward National Cancer Institute (NCI) designation – an honor reserved for the nation’s leading cancer centers. Achieving NCI designation will elevate cancer care and research across Louisiana by attracting top physicians and researchers, expanding access to groundbreaking clinical trials, and bringing additional federal research funding to our region.
Proceeds from the 2026 KBF 5K will support the Kelsey Bradley Favrot Endowed Chair in Neuro-Oncology, advance Dr. Odia’s research and treatment efforts, and further the Initiative’s goal of recruiting pediatric neuroscience specialists to care for children battling brain cancer. Your generosity has already transformed brain tumor care in our region. With your support, we can continue expanding access to specialized care, groundbreaking research, and hope for patients and families throughout Louisiana.
